Rare is not always the same as memorable

A rare birthday has a lower recorded total in the historical U.S. data. A memorable birthday is easy to recognize, such as 11/11. This page shows both and labels the difference clearly.

Sources and methodology

The rare-date collection links to established biographies, halls of fame, official profiles, and reference organizations. The full-year lookup was assembled in four quarterly datasets using structured birth-date records and Pantheon’s cross-language biography data as starting points, followed by editorial review for recognizable, date-specific matches and variety. Every lookup card links to a reference biography. The rarity figures use the site’s 1994–2014 U.S. birth dataset: CDC/NCHS records for 1994–1999 and Social Security Administration records for 2000–2014.
